Abstract

Second hand trading has for many decades been a part of many of the western communities. This community base, however, seems to have changed as a result of broader macro environmental forces sweeping across the globe. The present article aims to shed light on this issue by analyzing how this process takes place and what factors that seem to have a particular impact on this contemporary development. This article illustrates that the internationalisation of second hand trading seems to be a more rapid process than previously argued, and illustrate this tendency by drawing from illustrative case studies.

Abstract

In the literature, the importance of urban dynamics have been suggested to explain how developing countries’ process of structuration materalize. The aim of the present article is to revisit the grand classics within this field, and point out the potential implications of contemporary contributions to the understanding of the issue at hand. It argues that the urban dynamics could be understood to be a expanding concept, embedding a vast plethora of sub-conceptual components that may have a significant impact for our understanding. In perspective, this article also point out a number of directions for future research that are deemed to be fruitful.

Josef William Smith, Associate Professor, New Greenville University

Abstract

In the literature that concerns regional development, the development of regions have been suggested to have a major impact on city brands included in the region at hand. The present article aims to explain the mechanisms of this interplay and identify particular variables that seem to have a positive and negative effect of this interaction. The results of this article indicate that regional development that emphasize environmental and infrastructure aspects have a positive effect on individual city brands, while initiatives that concerns technological factors seems to have a negative impact. Therefore, several managerial implications can be drawn based on this study’s results, both for regional development managers as well as city brand managers.
